There is a difficult part that every MDG consultant will face for a simple question. How do I determine the material number based on the change request number using the SAP backend tables. This same process applies for how to determine customer or vendor number to change request number. It is a complex process to find these tables so I have simplified it for you. As a pro tip it’s important that for the technical key to utilize * before and after as there are spaces on the value that can cause difficulties trying to tie tables together. How to determine material number based on MDG Change Request Number
Step 1: Determine Change Request Number utilizing table USMD120C
Step 2: Go to table USMD1213 and utilize entity type Material and view the characteristic value field. The characteristic value will be the technical ID which represents the material(s) in the change request.
Step 3: Based on the technical key found in step 2 utilize this in table /1MD/MD______03L which maps the technical key to the material number
How to determine the customer number based on MDG Change Request Number
Step 1: Determine Change Request Number utilizing table USMD120C
Step 2: Go to table USMD1213 and utilize entity type BP_HEADER and view the characteristic value field. The characteristic value will be the technical ID which represents the material(s) in the change request.
Step 3: Based on the technical key found in step 2 utilize this in table /1MD/MD______04N which maps the technical key to the customer number
How to determine the vendor number based on MDG Change Request Number
Step 1: Determine Change Request Number utilizing table USMD120C

Step 1: Determine Change Request Number utilizing table USMD120C
Step 2: Go to table USMD1213 and utilize entity type BP_HEADER and view the characteristic value field. The characteristic value will be the technical ID which represents the material(s) in the change request.
Step 3: Based on the technical key found in step 2 utilize this in table /1MD/MD______03Z which maps the technical key to the business partner number
